<p>Jennifer Love Hewitt told Vulture that she and I Know What You Did Last Summer costar Sarah Michelle Gellar have not talked since the movie came out in 1997</p>
<p>Hewitt's interview with the outlet occurred before the sequel's L.A. premiere where the two women didn't cross paths</p>
<p>"I just think people don't want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?" Hewitt told Vulture</p>
<p>Jennifer Love Hewitt is addressing rumors of a feud between her and Sarah Michelle Gellar.</p>
<p>When Hewitt, 46, spoke with Vulture for a profile published on Friday, July 18 as the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel releases in theaters, the actress responded to questions regarding her relationship with former costar Gellar, 48, revealing that they have not stayed in touch since the original slasher released in 1997.</p>
<p>"I honestly don't even know what that was or how that all came to be," Hewitt said, when asked about online speculation that there was a feud between her and Gellar. "I just think people don't want the narrative to be easy. Why do we always have to be against each other and out for each other?"</p>
<p>"I haven't seen Sarah," Hewitt added. "Literally, we've not talked since I saw her at 18 years old when the first movie came out. That's why it's so funny to me. People were like, 'Say something back.' And I'm like, 'What am I going to say? I've not seen her.' On my side, we're good. I have no idea where this is coming from."</p>
<p>Gellar and Hewitt famously costarred with Freddie Prinze Jr. — Gellar's husband — Ryan Phillippe and Johnny Galecki, among others, in the original I Know What You Did Last Summer. Gellar's character is killed off in the movie, but she was around the production of the series' new film given her marriage to Prinze, 49, and friendship with director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.</p>

<p>Hewitt's interview with Vulture was conducted before the reboot's July 14 premiere in Los Angeles, which Hewitt and Gellar both attended. The pair seemingly did not meet up at the red carpet event, with Gellar writing in a Wednesday, July 16 Instagram post that the two women did not interact.</p>
<p>"For everyone asking - I never got to see @jenniferlovehewitt who is fantastic in the movie. I was inside with my kids when the big carpet happened," Gellar, who shares two children with Prinze, wrote in a comment on that post. "And unfortunately JLH didn't come to the after party. If you have ever been to one of these it's crazy. I sadly didn't get pics with most of the cast. But that doesn't change how amazing I think they all are. Unfortunately some things happen only in real life and not online."</p>

<p>Hewitt herself paid tribute to the new movie and original I Know What You Did Last Summer in her own Thursday, July 17 Instagram post, in which she wrote that the movie's original cast holds "a special place in my teenage heart."</p>
<p>"And to the new cast congrats! We are all in this together now. To the fans! I hope this is everything you hoped for and to the new fans we thank you for letting us be a part of your summer!" She added. "See you guys on the big screen!"</p>
<p>I Know What You Did Last Summer is in theaters now.</p>
