<p>Two large dogs killed a 2-year-old boy while the owner of a day care center in Georgia, who told officials she was napping, left him unattended, police said.</p>
<p>When first responders arrived at a residence in Valdosta at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, they discovered the child was dead, Valdosta police said in a statement.</p>
<p>Earlier that day, a woman dropped the toddler off with Stacy Wheeler Cobb, 48, who was operating an unlicensed day care center at her residence, police said.</p>
<p>The boy was not attended to be there for more than two hours, and Cobb told officials she was napping and thought the child was, as well, the statement said.</p>
<p>The boy appeared to have gotten outside and into Cobb's backyard. He opened a kennel and released two large Rottweilers, which attacked and killed him, police said.</p>
<p>The victim was the only child at Cobb's home at the time, the statement said.</p>
<p>Cobb was arrested Saturday, police said. She has been charged with two felonies: second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.</p>
<p>Jail records Monday showed that Cobb is still in the Lowndes County Jail, and it was unclear whether she has an attorney.</p>
<p>"This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred, but because of negligence on this offender's behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child," Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan said in the statement.</p>
<p>Police, who did not identify the victim and the family, are investigating.</p>
