<p>In the decades since, Soare has built the powerhouse beauty brand Anastasia Beverly Hills</p>
<p>Anastasia Soare, the brow expert behind Cindy Crawford's famous arches, "didn't know" who the supermodel was when they first met.</p>
<p>At the Anastasia Soare and Oprah Winfrey in Conversation at Raising Brows LIVE event, held at Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, Soare told PEOPLE exclusively about the first time she met Crawford, 59.</p>
<p>"Her booking agent, I think, sent her," Soare, 67, told PEOPLE, after revealing that Crawford was her first client. "I didn't know who she was. I was just I was struck by her beauty. She was the most gorgeous. I thought there is no way somebody could be that beautiful."</p>
<p>Soare's roster boosts numerous celebrity clients. She told PEOPLE that Oprah Winfrey, who co-hosted the event on Thursday, Oct. 23, has been her client since 1998.</p>

<p>Soare continued to discuss her star-studded client list. "Jennifer Lopez has been my client since 1992, so we go way back with all these amazing, wonderful celebrities that they supported me, they believed in me, and I'm forever grateful," she said.</p>
<p>Also in attendance at Thursday's event were Maria Menounos, Sebastian Stan, Eva Longoria, Kimora Lee Simmons, Sofia Vergara, Manolo Vergara, Sharon Stone, Kathy Hilton, Kyle Richards, Law Roach, and more.</p>

<p>The event was held in celebration of the Anastasia Beverly Hills founder's new memoir, Raising Brows: My Story of Building a Billion-Dollar Beauty Empire. The book follows her journey as a Romanian immigrant finding success in the beauty industry in the U.S.</p>

<p>"I was just on CBS, and Gail came there, and she had notes. She was telling me, like, 'Oh my god, this is amazing. I didn't know you could write such a good book.' I am so honored that you love… because she writes, and she reads so many books. She has a lot of materials to read, and for her to tell me that she was impressed was an incredible compliment," Soare tells PEOPLE of speaking with CBS Mornings host Gayle King.</p>
