Mexican governor Ruben Rocha steps down, NYT reports

May 2 (Reuters) - Ruben Rocha, governor of ‌Mexico's Sinaloa ‌state, said Friday night ​that he would temporarily step down from his post, ‌the New ⁠York Times reported on Saturday.

The ⁠U.S. Justice Department said on Wednesday ​it ​had ​charged Rocha ‌and other officials for their alleged involvement with the Sinaloa Cartel, a significant ‌escalation of ​U.S. anti-cartel ​action ​that is ‌likely to increase ​tensions ​between the United States and Mexico.
