Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Mon, October 26, 2026 at 2:04 AM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In this story The Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks will close out the Sunday slate of NFL games in Week 7, with kickoff set for 8:20 p.m. ET at Lumen Field in Seattle.
At the center of it all for the Chiefs isn't quarterback Patrick Mahomes, but Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, who faces his former team for the first time. Walker has been the heartbeat of Kansas City's offense since signing a three-year deal this offseason reportedly worth up to $45 million . So far, he's proven worth every penny, sitting one shy of his career high of nine total touchdowns while leading the league in rushing yards and yards per attempt heading into Week 7.
The Seahawks (3-3) have dropped three of their past four games. Seattle has struggled to find a rhythm in the run game since Walker's departure, as first-round rookie Jadarian Price landed on injured reserve with a chest injury and Zach Charbonnet works his way back from an ACL injury suffered last season.
Those struggles have taken a toll on quarterback Sam Darnold, who has regressed almost across the board, with drops in completion percentage (60.4%), touchdown rate (4.7%) and yards per attempt (6.9) compared with last season, along with a career-high interception rate (4.7%).

Sam Darnold found Eric Saubert for a 17-yard gain on the first play of the second half, and then Darnold just scrambled there for the first down.
Sam Darnold and Jaxson Smith-Njigba had another amazing connection just ahead of halftime to set up a goal-line opportunity … but what seemed to be a miscommunication between Darnold's receivers resulted in an interception from Chiefs cornerback Nohl Williams, which was returned for a whopping 65 yards.
Despite the incredible play, the Chiefs weren't able to capitalize, as kicker Harrison Butker attempted a 58-yard field goal with just 0:01 to go in the second quarter. It was no good, and the Chiefs remain scoreless in the first half.
Everything is looking challenging for Patrick Mahomes in the first half, as the Chiefs remain scoreless after going three-and-out with just 1:29 left in the first half.
It was a 56-yard boot for Matt Araiza, but Rasheed Shaheed made a 32-yard return to set the Seahawks up with decent field position, with two timeouts remaining.
What an incredible throw from Sam Darnold! He placed perfectly there for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who just barely managed to sneak into the end zone before being pushed out of bounds.
Sam Darnold is keeping this Seahawks drive alive himself. They're threatening to score again here at the two minute warning.
The Seahawks defense has been great tonight. Patrick Mahomes was drilled right as he threw it there, and completely missed Jalen Royals.
That led to an easy interception for Ty Okada.
The Chiefs opted to go for it on fourth-and-one at midfield, and they converted easily. They are still driving after a great kick return set them up with good field position.
We'll see how they respond to the Seahawks' field goal here soon.
That's a huge stop for the Chiefs after letting Seattle get all the way inside the 10. Sam Darnold's third down throw went right through the uprights, so they'll have to settle for a chip-shot field goal.
JSN's third catch of the night is a big one. He just shed a couple of Chiefs defenders to move the Seahawks 33 yards and into scoring position for the first time today.
It's been a pretty slow start tonight, and the Seahawks will be looking at a third-and-short deep in their own territory.
Mahomes found Gray for an easy 19-yard gain on that drive, but it once again stalled out just over midfield. It's time for another punt.
The Seahawks will take over now late in the first inside their own 10.
Well, we have another punt. Tory Holton had the ball in his hands, but it was just barely deflected away on third down. What a stop for Kansas City.
The Chiefs will take over now around their own 10.
Patrick Mahomes had an open Travis Kelce there on third and long, but he just missed him. So the Seahawks will get the ball back after a good start defensively.
The Seahawks won the toss, and they will defer. So Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will get the ball first.
The Chiefs enter Week 7 well-rested after the bye week, which should have the Seahawks on their toes. As a starter, Mahomes has a 7-2 record coming off the bye. Can he and the Chiefse make it 8-2?
It appeared as if the Seattle Seahawks' rushing attack could get some major help for a Week 7 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Except, even though the Seahawks activated running back Zach Charbonnet from the physically unable to perform list on Thursday, he won't play on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, head coach Mike Macdonald announced Friday .
When asked about Charbonnet being out, Macdonald said the Seahawks are "going along with the plan," alluding to Seattle's ramp-up strategy for the fourth-year back.
Charbonnet is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in a divisional-round playoff win over the San Francisco 49ers last season.
"The plan was to get a great week's worth of work and see where we're at, and, so, we're going to take it into next week," Macdonald said . "I'd just say it's part of the plan."
Moneyline odds: Seahawks -144, Chiefs +122
Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Josh Simmons was reportedly kicked out of a team meeting by Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes prior to being placed on injured reserve, according to NFL Network. The incident occurred Wednesday. A day later, Simmons was put on IR.
During a Wednesday team meeting, Simmons was reportedly sitting with his feet up. Chiefs coach Andy Reid asked Simmons to put his feet down, to which Simmons reportedly responded that his back and hips were bothering him and he had to sit that way. Reid then told Simmons to go receive treatment if he was hurting.
The pair continued to discuss the issue until Patrick Mahomes also told Simmons to leave and go get treatment. The 23-year-old offensive lineman did leave the room, though stayed at Chiefs' facilities.
Later that day, Simmons apologized to Reid and Chiefs leadership, per NFL Network.
